WHAT IF YOU MET JESUS ON THE STREET TODAY?

19 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him since Jesus was coming that way.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

It seems Jesus had not made arrangements for lodging upon entering Jericho, and staying at Zacchaeus’s house was not initially planned. So, what unfolded? Upon hearing that Jesus had entered the streets of Jericho, Zacchaeus decided to meet this renowned man and discover for himself who Jesus was. However, a multitude of people crowded the area, eager to catch a glimpse of Jesus. Despite being of short stature, Zacchaeus was determined to see Jesus and resolved to climb a fig tree for a better view. Nothing deterred him from his quest to surrender his life to Jesus.

Today, Jesus stands at the threshold of your home, Are you willing to rush to Him and invite Him into your life? Just as Zacchaeus found salvation, long life, prosperity, and everything he needed when he encountered Jesus, the fulfillment you seek is found in Him. As Matthew 6:33 states, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” I urge you today to heed the call of Jesus, welcome Him into your heart, and make Him the master of your life. Trust in Him and your life will be transformed. Jesus is calling your name from the street. Will you respond to Him?
