20-Year-Old Man Murders Okada Rider to Finance Wedding

In a shocking revelation, a 20-year-old Nigerian man, identified as Usman Yahaya Muhammed, has admitted to brutally killing a motorcycle rider and stealing his motorcycle in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. His motive behind this heinous act was to gather funds for his upcoming wedding.

Muhammed, who is reported to be a local vigilante, committed the gruesome crime on Friday, September 29, 2023. He confessed to the Niger State Police Command that he had planned to sell the stolen motorcycle to finance his impending wedding.

Following his arrest, the suspect was paraded alongside other detainees who had been apprehended for various offenses within the state. The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the suspect’s shocking admission.

The victim, a motorcycle rider, had provided his services to Muhammed. However, during the journey to the supposed destination, Muhammed asked the rider to stop before ruthlessly killing him with a machete.

The incident came to light when, on October 1, 2023, a lifeless body with a slit throat was discovered in a pool of blood in the Shabalile area of Mokwa. The police swiftly responded to the scene, recovering the victim’s body and transporting it to the hospital morgue.

During the subsequent investigation, a Bajaj motorcycle believed to have been stolen from the deceased was found in an uncompleted building in Mokwa. This discovery ultimately led to the arrest of Usman Yahaya Muhammed. In his confession, he stated that he had boarded the motorcycle with the intention of traveling to Eppa village. However, along the way, he halted the rider and brutally murdered him before making off with the motorcycle.

Even more chilling is the revelation that Muhammed, suspected of being a serial killer, admitted to journalists during the parade that he had committed similar crimes approximately eight times in the past. This shocking confession has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving authorities and the public deeply disturbed by the extent of his crimes. The case is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna.
