Tarkwa MP's Ambitious Wish: Victory for Medeama SC in CAF Champions League

George Mireku Duker, Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency and a Board member of Medeama Sporting Club, has expressed the club’s ambitious goal of clinching the CAF Champions League trophy. This determination marks a significant milestone for the Ghana Premier League champions as they make their debut appearance in the prestigious CAF elite competition.

Following the draw conducted recently, Medeama SC has been placed in Group D alongside formidable opponents, including the reigning champions, Al-Ahly, Tanzanian champions Young Africans, and Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

Mr. Duker conveyed the club’s readiness to confront any opposition and their determination to rewrite the narrative of Ghanaian clubs struggling in the Champions League. He emphasized that Medeama SC’s objective is not merely to participate but to compete at the highest level and contend for the coveted trophy.

“We want to take the trophy, that’s our aim, we are not just going to participate,” Mr. Duker stated. He also asserted that they are prepared to defy the odds as underdogs and make a significant impact in the tournament.

He highlighted the enthusiasm and readiness of the club’s supporters, who are eager to back the team in Tarkwa, their home ground, against any opponent. Their ultimate goal is not only to perform well but also to secure a place for Ghanaian clubs in the upper echelons of CAF’s competitions.

Medeama SC faces a challenging journey in the CAF Champions League, with fixtures against tough opponents on the horizon. Their campaign kicks off with an encounter against Al-Ahly in Egypt on November 24-25. They will then host CR Belouizdad in Tarkwa on December 1-2, followed by a home game against Young Africans on December 8-9, and an away trip to Dar es Salaam to face Young Africans at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

In February, they will have another showdown with Al-Ahly in Ghana on the 23-24 before concluding the group stage with a crucial match in Algeria against CR Belouizdad.

Medeama SC’s journey in the CAF Champions League promises to be a test of their mettle, and they are determined to leave their mark on the competition as they aim for glory.
